Käyttäjälähtöisyys puurakentamisen bisnesekosysteemeissä (KäPy) / End-user Approach to Development of Business Ecosystems in Wood-Based Building Sector
Helsingin yliopiston ja kumppaneiden KäPy-projektissa (2016-2019) tutkitaan ja kehitetään käytännön ratkaisuja, joilla puurakentamisen liiketoimintaekosysteemit voivat parantaa osaamistaan ja vastata paremmin loppukäyttäjien tarpeisiin.
Hanke analysoi yhtäältä puurakentamisen bisnesekosysteemien toimintaa, kuten yritysten ja muiden toimijoiden välistä yhteistyötä. Hankkeessa tutkitaan mm. kuinka asukkaiden tarpeista ja asunnon valintakriteereistä hankitaan tietoa rakennushankkeissa, ja miten tietoa hyödynnetään hankkeiden tehokkuuden kehittämiseksi ja asukkaiden tarpeisiin vastaamiseksi.
Lisäksi hanke tuottaa uutta tietoa loppukäyttäjien puukerrostaloasumiseen liittyvistä tarpeista ja odotuksista sekä näiden merkityksestä asunnon hankinnassa. Kolmanneksi hanke selvittää kuntien suhtautumista puurakenteisten kerrostalojen kaavoittamiseen ja rakentamiseen.
Tutkimuksen toteuttaa Helsingin yliopisto yhteistyökumppaneineen. Yhteistyötä tehdään mm. Vaasan yliopiston, partneriyritysten ja HOASin kanssa. Lisäksi yhteistyössä ovat mukana Linköpingin yliopisto (Ruotsi), Itävallan luonnontieteellinen yliopisto (BOKU, Itävalta), ja British Columbian yliopisto (UBC, Kanada).

End-user Approach to Development of Business Ecosystems in Wood-Based Building Sector is a collaborative research project by University of Helsinki and its partners. The project explores and seeks to develop practial approaches that the actors in the industrial wood construction ecosystems could use to improve their business skills, and to address the needs of the end-users.
One of the main aims of the KäPy project is to describe and analyse the functioning of business ecosystems in Wooden Multi-storey Construction (WMC) projects: how does a WMC project form and evolve, what are the roles of the project actors and how does their cooperation work. This analysis also includes how the construction project actors collect information about the needs of the future residents, and how they utilize this information to improve project efficiency and to meet the end-users’ needs.
Another aim of the project is to gain new information about the needs and expectations of the end-users towards WMC living, and to understand how these needs and expectations influence the housing decisions of the end-users.
Thirdly, the aim is to study the perceptions of municipalities regarding zoning and building of WMCs. The aim is also to compare the results with those from other countries.
The research project is led by University of Helsinki. The collaborators include University of Vaasa, several Finnish companies and The Foundation for Student Housing in the Helsinki Region (HOAS).
In addition, Linköping University (Sweden), University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (Boku, Austria) and University of British Columbia (UBC, Canada) act as collaborating universities.
